The function of clutch
Nov 19,2025
Smooth start: When the vehicle starts, the clutch gradually engages the engine and gearbox, allowing the vehicle to start smoothly and avoiding sudden power connections that may cause the vehicle to recoil or the engine to stall.
Smooth gear shifting: During gear shifting, the clutch temporarily disengages the engine and gearbox, allowing the driver to smoothly switch gears and achieve more efficient power output.
Prevent overload: When the load in the transmission system exceeds the torque that the clutch can transmit, the active and passive parts of the clutch will automatically slip, thereby avoiding overload and damage to the transmission system.
Buffer vibration: Some types of clutches (such as hydraulic clutches) also have the function of buffering vibration, which can reduce the impact and vibration between the engine and gearbox, and improve driving comfort.
